Our Ministries

Almost everything that happens at the church can be considered a ministry. After all ministry means the spiritual work or service of the church. We have many ministries at JCPC but here we focus on some of the main ones, that most people are familiar with. Music Misistry, Mission Ministry, Sunday School and Worship Services. Please visit the various highlighted areas and see what we have to offer, but don't stop there, navigate to our committees and groups for more of our misitries here at JCPC.

Family Promise of FLORENCE

Homelessness can seem like an overwhelming problem.  Many people wonder what one person or congregation can do to truly make a difference.

The Family Promise Interfaith Hospitality Network program provides a way for churches and synagogues to work together to help homeless families.  Each congregation participating in the Network provides overnight lodging and meals for three to five families (up to 14 persons) for one week each two or three months on a rotating basis.  Network “guests” stay in each congregation from 5:15 P.M.. to 6:00 A.M.. daily.  Each morning guests are taken to the day center where they meet with the Network director, care for pre-school children, make phone calls and seek housing and employment.

The Family Promise Interfaith Hospitality Network program enables us to meet important basic needs of homeless families.  Families with children make up the fastest growing segment of the homeless population.  Usually, over half of the guests in the Network are children, and most of the children are under the age of six.  Nationally, over 6,000 congregations participate in Family Promise programs with literally thousands of volunteers who help families regain their independence.

Volunteers are the foundation of the Network.  There are many ways that you can help.  Whether you provide a hot meal, arrange activities for children, or stay overnight, you can make a difference in the lives of families who have suffered the ordeal of losing their home.

JCPC has agreed to be one of the HOST CONGREGATIONS and we need people to participate participate in this important mission ministry right here in our own community! The Florence Program is set to start November 1st with Highland Park United Methodist agreeing to host the first week. Please consider joining us in being a part of this important mission ministry!
